Umer Gillani

Mr. Gillani completed his B.A and LLB from LUMS. After graduating from LUMS in 2010, he worked for three years as Law Clerk/Research Associate for Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and got the opportunity to work on more than a dozen reported cases, mostly involving complex questions of constitutional law. He was also the coordinator of the Supreme Court’s Clerkship Program and was actively involved in matters related to program development. During this period, he also had the opportunity to do short stints as a researcher with the Federal Judicial Academy and a Commission of Inquiry presided by Justice Saqib Nisar.

In 2013-14, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue an LLM at the University of Washington, Seattle. His LLM focused on Comparative and International Law and culminated with a dissertation on judicial review in Pakistan. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gillani was a senior associate at Kundi & Kundi at Islamabad.

Presently, he practices law in Islamabad, focusing on civil and constitutional litigation.
